AMZ joins the rest of the world in commemorating International Women's Day

March 2021

International Women’s Day (IWD), a day that is celebrated globally on 8th March, is aimed at acknowledging the economic, political, social and cultural achievements of women throughout history and from all walks of life.  IWD seeks to uphold feminist values and celebrate womanhood, as well as commemorating the great achievements of women and the meaningful contributions that they have made to the world.

This year, our female staff from Head Office and the Mumbwa Branch, along with some women from other branches, joined the CEO Susan Chibanga in commemorating the lives of women by visiting the Mumbwa Correctional facility, where they donated basic necessities and other items to the women.  “As part of our corporate social responsibility, Agora Microfinance is delighted to give back to the community. We recognize that being kept under the confines of the four walls, the women feel completely excluded and this gesture was a way to show them that they are still valuable and deserve to have the basic needs”, Mrs. Chibanga said.

This year, AMZ celebrated  International Women’s day with the theme of “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.”
