AMZ Partners with RUFEP

May 2020

AMZ’s partnership with the Rural Financial Expansion Programme (RUFEP), whose objective is to increase access to and use of sustainable financial services by poor rural men, women and youth, aligns well with our mission of contributing to the economic well-being of the poor through the effective provision of appropriate financial services.

Access to mobile money services in Zambia has the potential to expand financial inclusion especially for rural areas not served by formal financial service providers.

Under the Agency and Mobile Banking Window of the innovation and outreach facility, RUFEP was able to offer AMZ a grant to support at least 500 rural mobile money agents with liquidity.

In an interview with RUFEP , Susan Chibanga, AMZ’s CEO said that “this project and AMZ’s involvement in the cash and float rebalancing for the mobile network operators agents, has helped them earn more income and improve their livelihoods”.
